Today, I had a great thing to do, and that was led-student discussion. In this discussion, David, Rand, Hua and me were the learders to organize the students who attended the discussion.
The topic of discussion is about the right of using guns. Nowadays, many counties allow people to use guns, while having a gun is illegal in the other countries. That is the reason why we create this discussion. According to the discussion, some students told us that in their countries, such as the Middle East countries. However, they still need to have tests to get licenses, and they can just use guns for hunting. Some other students said that they can not have the guns with themselves in their countries. Furthermore, the Middle Eastern people said that they think that gun can protect their safety. On other hand, others believed that guns are very dangerous.
Today, we had very interesting discussion. Many students were here, even though some of them are a little late. In fact, in my opinion, we had a great time.
After talked with someone, I suddenly wanted to learn something about space. As a result, I chose and attended a lecture which is life beyond the earth on one Monday. Maybe this course is not including into the sheet in YUELI, but I was not sure. I was attracted the title of the lecture, life beyond the earth. However, it was very difficult, because I had never learned anything about this topic.
The topic of this class was living in space. At first, it was about elements of the artificial environment. The teacher taught something about how to create an artificial enclosed environment when the life is beyond the earth. The people still need the food, water and oxygen for the normal life. Furthermore, the professor showed some information on the internet. Secondly, it was about the journey to the stars and the generational ship. The journey is a bridge of the interplanetary distance can easily be done in the average human life. At the end of the class, the teacher told something about hibernation. I learned something about living in the space from the class.
This was a difficult class. There were so academic word, and the professor spoke very quickly. As a result, I think I still have a lot of thing that should be improve.
This weekend, my friends made a trip that was very special for me. The trip was a ice skating trip.
This trip happened in a very cold day. All my friends met in house which is next to my room, and we drove to the skating place, the Natural Ice Rink. Then one of my friends helped me to borrow the ice skates, because I was a new one for skating. After that we put on these ice skates. When I stood up, I found that wearing ice skates was not very comfortable. This kind of shoes was very heavy and stiff. When we arrived at a skating rink, the skating rink was not big as I thought, but it was beautiful. Because it was my second time to skate, I felt very nervous. However, my friends were very nice and they helped me to enter the rink. One of my friends taught me, even though it just was her third time to skate. Maybe because I am not good at sport, I still did not know how to skate when we finished this trip. In contrast to me, many new learners could skate better than me. It was a very good experience. Even though I gain nothing about skating, I really had a great time.
Today, I was so happy, because I do not have homework to do. As a result, one of my friends asked me to attend a lecture, named the nature and growth of scientific thought. The class was a little bit difficult to understand.
Actually, this class was something about physics. The professor showed some pictures in his power point, and these pictures were about the change of voltage. The electron which has high energy moved quickly and can jump out, while the electron which has less energy moves slowly. The teacher gave a equation: E = hv. Secondly, the professor taught the visible spectrum of hydrogen. There were four lines in the visible point. Finally, an intensity of an object emit electron. Radiation can be used to detect the temperature. This lecture was very interesting and good.
This class was better than last lecture, and the professor gave some pictures. These pictures could help students easily understand. Some part of this class I could understand, and that make me so happy.
I had a very interesting day with friend. First, friends took us to a shop where people can paint the bisque. I chose a big plate. Before we paint these bisques, the staff taught us how to do that. We should paint the color three times, if we wanted to have dark color. I chose green and used this color for outside of the plate and yellow for inside. Because I wanted a light green, I just painted twice. To compare with bisque, it was much easier to paint the whole plate. The plate was very dry and paint was not wet enough. I did not want to make the color bit and bit, because I did not paint well last time. I must draw lessons from experience. After we finished painting the bisque, we are some KFC and diet Pepsi. Then we came back home. One of my friends said that he would bring bisques when the bisques would be dried. However, I think that it will be a long time for me to wait for the plate to become OK, because I want to get my plate as quickly as possible. It was a wonderful time to play with may friends in that shop.

Report:
Today was an interesting day because we had a chance to attend a lecture. There were three choices for us to choose because we had to attend lectures which started at 9:30. Finally, David, Tien Elyana and I found us in the some group, and our lecture was Introduction to Fitness and Health, which was in Curtis Lecture Hall L. Then, all the students went to find the lecture.

After all of the students had their choices, we went to the lectures. Because most of us did not know where these locations were, the teacher led us to find the places. On the way, four students left and went to another place, and rest of us with the teacher, continued to search for Curtis Lecture Hall. We spent some time finding Curtis Lecture Hall outside the building in the cold weather, and then we looked for Hall L around the whole building. Finally, we went upstairs and found it on the third floor, and we went in quickly.

When we entered Hall L, the lecture had already begun. Firstly, the professor reviewed some material which he had taught the previous week in a few minutes, and then he started something new. In the lecture, he taught the factors affecting health which include heredity, age, sex, body size and composition, training status and environmental condition. Secondly, in a section about how indirect tests predict VO, the professor explained that people can predict oxygen consumption from sub maximal heart rate repose. Then, the professor gave an equation: Blood Pressure=Cardiac Output ×Total Peripheral Resistance. Finally, the professor gave some charts and tables to show some data about blood pressure.

During the lecture, the professor was interesting. He did many actions to explain what he was talking about. He, for example, performed some sport exercises to explain blood pressure in the arms and legs. At the same time, most of the students listened very carefully. Some of them typed summaries on their laptops, and some of them just paid attention to the lecture, for example.

In the lecture, I did not feel very good. This may be because the lecture was so academic that I could not understand many words. It may be also because I did not have some background information about blood pressure. As a result, it was a little difficult to understand. However, I liked the lecture because the professor was interesting, and I did not find the class boring. Furthermore, I could understand one student’s question and the professor’s answer. To be honest, I liked this professor‘s class, but I was sorry that there were so many new words.

In conclusion, today’s lecture was a good way to show us real life in university. I will choose another lecture when I have free time so that I can improve my English.

Summary:
According to “Implications for Agriculture and Rural Development” in “Biofuels” by Antony Rowe (2007), nowadays, because of rising biofuels production, the need of agricultural feedstock makes crop prices higher and higher. The author noted that many different kinds of feedstock and technologies can be used to produce biofuels, and because of these farmers can produce “underutilized forms of biomass” (Rowe, 2007, pg.122) and make more land to produce agriculture. The writer stated that “biofuel programmes” (Rowe, 2007, pg.123) maybe an important reason of rising employment in rural areas nowadays and in future. The author mentioned that biofuels seem to be a “possible solution” (Rowe, 2007, pg.127) which can help agricultural surplus in some developing countries. Rowe explained that there are some benefits to “rural communities” (Rowe, 2007, pg.129). The author reported that even though there are many “small-scale biofuel production” (Rowe, 2007, pg.133) now, in future, “large-scale” biofuel production will become the main stream (Rowe, 2007, pg.133). The author described that producing biofuels can make rich farmers more wealthy, while it also can lead poor farmers into more poverty. Furthermore, the writer showed that because the requirement of biofuels has been increased, the certain food prices has became higher and higher, and these will lead to some social problems.
